Cinnamon's Jail Break

I have had Cinnamon for 4 weeks. Cinnamon is doing great. I came up with the idea of giving Cinnamon toilet paper rolls. He loves running through them. I take Cinnamon in a pink toy dog carrier outside and let him run around. But, I have to watch him carefully.
My dad does not like cinnamon on the carpet. [He thinks it makes the carpet dirty.]
Did you know that hamsters can go through anything they can get their head through? Today I woke up and heard Cinnamon's wheel turning.
''What? I thought I took Cinnamon's wheel out last night!'' I looked and saw the lid off his cage and Cinnamon was not in his cage. I looked at his wheel (beside his cage) and saw Cinnamon running in it! After a small chase, I got Cinnamon back in his cage. I now know that I left Cinnamon's cage lid off last night and around 6:55 a.m. Cinnamon climbed out to run in his favorite wheel.

My new computer

My mom and I were going to the Farmer's Market and saw an estate sale sign. We stopped there. It was an old farm house. It was very, very old and dirty. We walked inside and I saw a black typewriter. I asked the lady who owned the sale how much it was. She and a few other old ladies laughed.

I wanted the typewriter because it was antique and it was an old computer. It reminded me of the American Girl Kit Kitteredge because she had one. And, I look like her. Blond hair. Blue eyes. Freckles over the nose. Loves adventure. And is responsible.

The lady said, "$7.00." I told my mom it was seven dollars. She said I could get it. It is an Underwood. It is black and you can change the color of the ink/ribbon. It can change to be black, red, and navy blue.

It is in my room on a wooden desk. I have made 20 articles.

SHOW TIME

Piano Recital is coming up!
I am so excited and nervous!
My piano recital is in 2 days! I am going to play A WHOLE NEW WORLD and CHANT. I am really good at CHANT, but I kind of need to work on A WHOLE NEW WORLD a little bit more. This will be my 4th recital. A WHOLE NEW WORLD is 5 pages long and CHANT is 2 pages long and that means 7 pages total! This will be Cricket’s 2nd recital. Yesterday I practiced for 1 hour! Today I practiced for a half an hour today.
Wish me luck!

The Last Day of My First Job

How I got started walking Molly...

It all started when our neighbor Mrs. C was at our house and mentioned Mrs. S having a broken hip. Mrs. S's dog, Molly, needed walking while she recovered.

That turned into my first job...walking Molly 5 times a week. I walk her because her owner has a full-time teaching job in Fort Atkinson. It is fun walking Molly. Last Tuesday was my last day. I hope I can walk Molly in the fall. Molly is an English cocker spaniel. Molly is strong. And she's deaf.

Her owner left me a letter once and it said, "Did you know that Molly sleeps by the door on the weekends when you don't walk her?" I thought that was cute. I love walking Molly.

Garage sale! I am having a garage sale! Some of you got the cards I made for you for Christmas. You did not know that all winter I made cards that I am going to sell at the garage sale. But, I have a problem. How much should I sell the cards for? Please look at the picture and then put in the comment box how much you would pay for one of them. I am also selling MONSTER cookies. Last year they were a big hit! One person kept coming back to buy more and more cookies.

Meet Tucker

I would like you to meet Tucker. Tucker is the dog I walk about 3 times a week. I think Tucker is a Shih-poo/Teddy Bear mix. He is really smart. Yesterday he somehow got out of his house by himself. My last day walking Tucker for the summer is next Tuesday. I will miss walking him. Here is something I wrote about Tucker a few months ago.

Tucker is a puppy.
I have a dog walking business. I walk a puppy whose name is Tucker. Tucker is white, little, furry and cute. Tucker is fun to play with. Tucker’s owner’s name is Mrs. C. She is very tall.
You know how some owners look like their dogs or puppies? Well, Tucker has short curly hair and Mrs. C. has short, curly, brown hair too. Tucker is always sleeping on the couch or in his bed when I get him for his walk. Tucker is a happy puppy.

What I’ve learned…
* It is important to be on-time.
* It is really important to shut the door, because they also have a cat.
* It is important to keep the dog’s water bowl full.
* Tucker enjoys walking, not running.
* Tucker likes to annoy cats.
* The C. family leaves lights and TVs on in their house when no one is home! Once, there were 6 lights and 2 TVs on. Mrs. C. told me to turn them off if they were left on, so I did.

My New Best Friend...Cinnamon

Some of you know that my dad does not like animals.

Some of you did not know that I got a hamster for my birthday.

I convinced my dad and I got myself a hamster [after telling my dad I would be paying for everything and completely taking care of him.] So I got my first pet... a hamster named Cinnamon. Cinnamon is a boy. Cinnamon’s middle name is Starburst. So his full name is Cinnamon Starburst H. He loves to run in the blue wheel I got him. He is white and brown. I got him on the 30th of May. Cinnamon is a Fancy Short Hair hamster. I have enclosed a picture of him. I can not wait for you all to meet him.

Your niece, grandchild and cousin, Bunny

P.S. Some of you gave me birthday money. That money went toward Cinnamon. Thanks.

Roots and Shoots?

Why are we blogging?

I need to become more tech-savvy and I thought the kids could use the blog format to communicate with their extended family.

Why the name Roots and Shoots?

That name describes the primary activity that takes place at our home:

Roots represent ... what we are striving to promote and encourage in our family...a strong family foundation with strong family relationships, rooted in love for God and love for each other....roots represent the spiritual foundation we are striving to build, which is deeply rooted in the Word of God.....roots represent the activities within the walls of our home.

Shoots represent... the outward expression of our lives in our neighborhood, in the greater community and beyond...ideally, the activities we talk about should represent how we are training our children, in various ways, to one day leave "our garden" and become caretakers of their own garden someday.

So, Welcome to our Garden ~
where we are developing
strong, healthy Roots
and meaningful Shoots!
